Spartak Moscow secured a 2-1 victory over Rubin Kazan in the 29th round of the Russian Premier League (RPL), keeping their hopes for a bronze finish alive.
Christopher Wu opened the scoring in the 4th minute, and Pablo Solari doubled the lead in the 60th minute. Aleksandar Jukić pulled one back for Rubin in stoppage time (90+3).
The defeat ended Rubin’s nine-match unbeaten run in the RPL (five wins, four draws). They last lost in late February in the 19th round against Dynamo Makhachkala (1-2).
Spartak now have 51 points and sit in fourth place in the league standings. They trail Lokomotiv (53), Krasnodar (63), and Zenit (65). Rubin remain in seventh with 42 points.
In the final round on May 17, Spartak will visit Dynamo Makhachkala, while Rubin host Pari Nizhny Novgorod.
