Jose Mourinho has dismissed reports suggesting he is a leading candidate to return as head coach of Real Madrid, calling the speculation unfounded. The Portuguese manager, currently in charge of Benfica, was rumored to have set conditions for a potential move to the Spanish capital.
“I don’t understand what demands toward Real Madrid are being talked about. I have had no contact with the club’s president or anyone in the board,” Mourinho told Portuguese outlet *A Bola*. The 62-year-old stressed that he does not engage in negotiations with other clubs during the season and intends to adhere to that policy at least until the campaign ends.
“I’m not talking to anyone right now. After the last match of the season, I will have time to discuss my future if I feel it’s necessary. Everything else is just speculation,” Mourinho added.
Mourinho previously managed Real Madrid from 2010 to 2013, winning La Liga, the Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Super Cup. This season, his Benfica side is still in contention for the Portuguese league title, with their final match scheduled against Estoril.
