Six-time Russian champion Yegor Titov told Match TV that if Spartak wins the Russian Cup, the author of the winning goal against CSKA, Ruslan Litvinov, could receive a jar of homemade moonshine from former Spartak captain Denis Glushakov as a gift.
On Wednesday, Spartak defeated CSKA 1-0 at home in the final of the Path of Regions of the FONBET Russian Cup. Litvinov scored with a strike into the top corner, a goal reminiscent of Glushakov’s winner in Spartak’s championship-winning season against Amkar (1-0).
“Did Litvinov become the derby hero with that beautiful goal?” Titov was asked.
“I watched the match together with Denis Glushakov, and Ruslan’s goal reminded all of us of something (in 2016, Glushakov scored the winner against Amkar, and Spartak won the Russian title that season — ed. Match TV). We exchanged a glance, smiled, and realized this might be some kind of sign from above. The same goal, the same top right corner. Now we just need to win the Cup and wait for a jar of magic drink from Glushakov as a gift. I think Denis will personally hand it to Litvinov, and we’ll all celebrate the victory together at Gladiator Square,” Titov said to Match TV.
The Russian Cup super final will take place on May 24 at Luzhniki, where Spartak will face Krasnodar.
